There are several ways you can save gas money by helping to improve your cars gas mileage.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Making sure that your tire pressure is properly inflated can make a rather big difference in how much gas your vehicle has to use. An underinflated tire takes a lot more effort to move. You should check your tires regularly, you can easily do this at most gas stations with a air pressure hose. Or you can easily purchase a tire pressure gauge. I have listed a recommendation under Resources.

  2. Step 2

Make sure that your air filter is replaced, do this when you notice that it's difficult to see light through it.

  3. Step 3

Spark plugs should always be kept clean and properly placed apart.

  4. Step 4

Always make sure your muffler is working properly and has no damage. A simple hole in the muffler can end up costing you a few dollars a month.

  5. Step 5

Be gentle when using your car, not only will help you save money on gas, it will help you keep your car for longer. Avoid hard breaking and heavily accelerating. You should also avoid changing your driving speeds quickly. If you need to speed up 10 miles, or slow down 10 miles, try and gently ease into it.

  6. Step 6

It's a known fact that driving faster uses more gas, which is just common sense. But many people don't realize that if you never drive over 60, you can end up saving quite a bit of money.

  7. Step 7

Air conditioners may seem like more of a luxury to some, but most people now use their air conditioners constantly. Though opening the window will also end up using more gas, it will use a lot less than an air conditioner. If an air conditioner isn't necessary, you shouldn't use it.
