Layering will keep him nice and warm.Dress in layers. While it might be cool when you leave for your hiking trip with children, chances are that it will get warmer as the day progresses. Conversely, while it may be warm and sunny at the beginning of the hiking trail, it may be cooler under the canopy of shady trees. Wear long pants to protect your legs from scratches. If you live in an area that is prone to tick infestation, wear light colors and try to wear long sleeves.

An ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure. Before you leave for your hike, put sunscreen and a safe insect repellant on each person. Sunburn and mosquito bites can put a damper on any hiking trip.

Step 5
When you are done hiking, check each person for ticks. Shake out any layers of clothing that were removed to remove sticks, grass, spiders, and anything else that might be stuck.
