set up ftp filezilla for GoDaddy hosting account

So you have a GoDaddy.com hosting account, and your ready to upload your files using the Free FTP client software FileZilla, but you just cant seem to connect. I had the same issues with very little information available when I searched. I hope my article helps someone avoid the headache I went through.

Things You'll Need

  • FTP Client to upload files to hosting account
  • Godaddy Hosting account

Instructions

    • 1

Open the FileZilla program. Go to File > Site Manager

    • 2

Enter in the Space for the following:
Host: Your domain name. IE: ehow.com Port: 21
      Server type: FTP
      Logontype: normal
User: This is the username that appears when you enter into your hosting/domain settings. May not be the login name used to sign on to your godaddy account.

If you entered in everything correctly, you should be connected without a problem. If you'd like additional help or you are using another FTP client program, then try visiting the Godaddy FTP information page. Here is the link: https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/ftpinfo.asp
      Good luck!
