Change Your Outdated Kitchen Into a Country Retreat

Updating a kitchen can be messy, expensive, and time consuming. However, there are ways to whip your kitchen into shape for little investment. Turn your outdated kitchen into a country retreat in just a few simple steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Cabinets. Look at what you have. Cabinets can be expensive to replace. Old painted cabinets can be repainted or sanded aroud the edges to appear antique. There are many ideas online. Don't be afraid to be creative. Finish off the cabinets with used handles. You may be able to find these old vintage handls online or at local yard sales.

  2. Step 2

Flooring. Depending on your flooring this could vary. Hardwood floors look beautiful refinished. Laminate flooring is less expensive than ceramic title. If you have hardwood floors, you can rent the machinery needed to finish these floors yourself for very cheap at your local hardware store.

  3. Step 3

Walls. If you have peeling or damaged wall paper you can easly remove it with water and a plastic putty spackle. You can then replace the wall paper with the bargin discount paper on sale at your local store or you could paint the walls a nice natural color. If you have painted walls you may decide to sponge paint overtop of the exsisting paint for a cheaper option. See the instruction link below.

  4. Step 4

Add new decor. Stop by your local 2nd hand shop or hit the flea markets. Vintage furniture will give your country kitchen the look and feel of antique. Old paintings and mirrors make a great addition.
