Step 1
Introduce the letter H. Show your preschooler the letter H as well as objects that start with the letter H. Discuss the sounds made by the letter H.

Plan a hat day. Collect different types of hats for your preschooler to explore. Take turns trying on the different hats. This could also turn into a dramatic play opportunity.

Play a game of hide and seek with the letter H. Instead of people hiding, make a letter H from cardboard. One person will hide the letter H while the other person counts. The counter will then search for the letter H. If multiple people are playing, give each person a letter H to hide, making each one a different color so they can be distinguished.

Make a house out of an appliance box. Cut out a door and windows. Draw several letter H outlines on the house for your child to color. This letter H activity is not only fun but educational too.

Go for a hike around the neighborhood or at an area park. While on the hike, look for objects that start with the letter H. You can also take a camera along to snap photos of the objects. Make your own letter H book with the images.

Set up a hair salon in your home. Choose a chair as the salon chair. Gather brushes, a spray bottle with water and hair accessories. Take turns styling everyone's hair.
