Step 1
The first thing you need to do is open a Twitter account (obviously). Once you do this, take some time and build a following. There are multiple ways to do this. You can start by following many people. As you follow people, they will hopefully follow you in return. The only other real way is to be very interesting yourself, or create a niche for yourself, and people will eventually start to follow you.

Step 2
As your following increases, your Twitter account will become more desirable for companies to advertise on. A good site to see how you are doing is www.whatsyourtweetworth.com. It tells you approximately how much money you can make each month based on how many followers you have.

Currently, there are two primary ways to make money on Twitter. The first way is through a company named Twittad. Twittad matches up your Twitter account with companies that want to advertise on it. They will offer you money for a certain period of time, during which their ads will appear on your Twitter space. You can also place your listing on Twittad, offering to sell your Twitter space for a certain amount of money per week or per month. (I included the link below)
