How to Make White Rice Like A Chinese Restaurant
I really like the white rice you get at many Chinese restaurants. I have tried to duplicate the taste at home in the past and was so close but something was missing. One day while at the store in the Asian section my boyfriend suggested we try jasmine rice; we had never tried it before..or so we thought. Jasmine rice tastes just like what you get at a Chinese restaurant! Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Saucepan with lid
- Stove
- 1/2 Cup Jasmine Rice
- 1/2 Cup Extra Long Grain Rice
- 2 Cups Water
Instructions

-
1
Gather your ingredients. Some people say you should rinse rice but I don't believe that's necessary. This rice recipe always turns out great for me without rinsing.
-
2
Pour the two cups water in the pot and turn the oven on medium-high heat.
-
-
3
Pour your 1/2 cup long grain rice and 1/2 cup jasmine rice into the water; do not wait for the water to boil before adding the rice.
-
4
Give the rice a very quick stir just to make sure all the rice is covered by the water.
-
5
Allow the rice to come to a gentle boil, uncovered.
-
6
Once the rice is boiling put your burner on the lowest setting, cover.
-
7
Allow to cook covered for 15 min.
-
8
Turn off burner and allow the rice to sit for at least 5 min. Fluff with a fork.

Tips & Warnings
Stir the rice as little as possible
Never leave the room when cooking rice. Keep an eye on it. Rice can go from perfect to dried out and overdone in minutes.
I found cooking jasmine rice without cutting it with white rice to be a little strong, that's why I recommended making it this way. You cannot tell the difference between the two types of rice once cooked.
