Most of us can remember making necklaces with beads and string, and proudly presenting it to our moms for Mother's day. Get out the string and beads and spend an afternoon with your children making these fun necklaces that are reminiscence of your childhood.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Colorful string
  • Beads
  1. Step 1

Sort the beads out by color, size and shape. Put different color, size and shaped beads in separate containers.

  2. Step 2

Cut a piece of string 18 to 20 inches long. Before cutting the string measure around the person's neck that you are making the necklace for; cut the length to fit that person and how long or short she want the necklace.

  3. Step 3

Add beads to the string. Hold one end of the string and thread a bead onto it. Continue adding beads until you have the desired look. For a different look, knot the string on each side of the bead before placing another bead on the string.

  4. Step 4

Tie the necklace off. Hold the two loose ends together in your right hand; keep the ends even. Leave about a 2 inch tail and wrap the two ends around the first fingers of your left hand. Pull the loose ends through the loop you made and tighten to form a knot.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make a slip knot when tying off your necklace. (See resources for instructions on tying slip knots.)
