How to Make Pistol Target Stands
Making a pistol target stand is a DIY project. There are many materials from which the stand may be made, however, pvc is a light weight and easy to work with material. With a few feet of pipe, t joints, elbow joints and some time, a stable and sturdy stand can be constructed for only a few dollars.
Things You'll Need
- 6 pvc elbow joints
- 2 pvc t joints

1
Cut the pvc pipe into sections. The project will require 7 sections of 2 feet in length, and 2 sections of 6 feet in length. Use a coping or other fine toothed saw for this step.

2
Begin assembly with the base of the stand. Place 4 of the 2 foot sections in a square pattern on a flat surface. Form a u shape by using 3 of the 2 foot sections and two elbows. Set aside and form another "u" section.

3
Connect the two "u" sections by attaching them together with a "t" connector. The finished support should be a rectangle shape with the 2 "t" connectors in the middle with an opening facing up.
-
4
Build another "u" shape using a 2 foot section, the 6 foot sections and 2 elbows. Insert the large u into the upright opening of the "t" connector.

5
Support cans from the top of the stand with string. Hang paper targets with tape, or tape a larger piece of cardboard to the frame and tape targets to the board.

Tips & Warnings
Use pvc cement to connect the pvc pieces permanently or simply dry fit the pieces for a more portable stand. Use a size of pvc pipe which is preferable to the shooter. The width of the stand can also be adjusted by shortening or widening some of the pvc pieces.
When shooting at the stand, attempt to keep shots centered between the uprights as the stand may be permanently damaged by bullets.
