Instructions

    • 1

      Cut a 2-inch thick piece of Styrofoam into a 4 x 12-inch rectangle.

    • 2

Use greening pins (large, staple-like pins) to attach greenery to the outer perimeter of the Styrofoam rectangle, covering the sides with leaves and allowing vines to cascade slightly off the block.

    • 3

Arrange standing flowers in the center of the block, inserting wire stems into the Styrofoam and then bending the base slightly to insert a greening pin over the stem and into the block. Leave a small space in the center of the arrangement for a bow.

    • 4

Continue inserting flowers, but progressively clip stems shorter as you work toward the ends of the block to create a gentle mound of flowers. Insert additional greenery to fill in empty spaces between flowers.

    • 5

Make a bow (see Resources). Twist a piece of wire around the bow and insert the wire into the center of the floral arrangement.

    • 6

Insert the Styrofoam into the prongs located in the center of the saddle.

    • 7

Cut an 18-inch piece of florist wire. Tuck the middle of the wire into the center of the floral display and wrap the ends of the wire around the Styrofoam block to securely attach the entire arrangement to the saddle.
