The Shuffle is a smaller, more compact type of iPod. If your Shuffle isn't working as good as it did when you first purchased it, you may be able to fix the problem by reformatting the Shuffle. Reformatting an iPod Shuffle is also recommended if you have bought a used iPod Shuffle from a person you do not know. The software program iTunes makes reformatting the iPod Shuffle incredibly easy and the process shouldn't take more than a few minutes to finish.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin by downloading and installing the latest version of iTunes.

  2. Step 2

    Open "iTunes."

  3. Step 3

Plug your iPod Shuffle into your computer.

  4. Step 4

Click on the name of your iPod Shuffle found on the left side of iTunes.

  5. Step 5

    Click the "Settings" tab.

  6. Step 6

Click on the "Restore" tab found in the middle of iTunes. Once you do, a confirmation message will appear in the middle of iTunes. Click "Restore" in that box and your iPod Shuffle will begin to reformat. Keep your iPod Shuffle plugged in until it has finished reformatting.
