How to Create an Irish Themed Wedding

Add a touch of charm and good luck to your wedding by using an Irish theme for the ceremony and reception. This will honor members of the family with Irish heritage and celebrate the family roots.

  • Green runner carpet
  • Shamrocks or Irish motif
  • Pots of shamrocks
  • Green candles
  • Quotes from Irish writers and poets
  • Gifts for special members of the family from Ireland

Instructions

      Choose a wedding dress with shamrocks or another Irish motif. You can also pin a small shamrock on the inner hem of your dress for good luck.

      Roll green runner carpet down the aisle of the church. Place tall green candles at various locations in the church.

      Hand out wedding booklets at the church that contain information about the bride and groom and the wedding ceremony. Also include quotes from Irish writers and poets in these booklets, and use a picture of Ireland on the front or back of the book.

      Place tall green candles on the tables at the wedding reception. Enhance the theme by displaying photos of Ireland and relatives from Ireland and giving pots of shamrocks as gifts for the guests.

      Obtain special gifts from Ireland for special guests such as grandparents and parents. Crystal items or sweaters from Ireland are lovely gifts; they will remind the recipient of Ireland and the wedding.
