Life used to be pretty rough for people with gluten allergies, because they largely missed out on cookies, breads, cakes and mostly any baked good. That was until gluten free flour came along. You still can't cook with gluten free flour in the same way, but if you learn a few tips, your foods will taste like traditional fare.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gluten free flour
  • Corn starch
  • Potato starch
  • guargum
  • Eggs
  1. Step 1

Coat meat for frying using a single grain gluten-free flour without adding anything.

  2. Step 2

Thicken sauces using cornstarch or potato starch instead of gluten free flour.

  3. Step 3

Bake bread in containers like pound cake tins and muffin tins. Gluten free baked goods can't hold their shape like regular breads and need to be held in place with a tin.

  4. Step 4

Add 1/8 tsp. of guar gum to every cup of gluten free flour when baking to get the same sticky dough that you get in traditional baking.

  5. Step 5

Add protein to your recipe by adding one egg to replace every 1/2 cup of water so that the recipe holds its shape.

Tips & Warnings
  • Bake using a combination of gluten free flour with a little bit of regular flour for the best end result.
