Donating a Body to Medical School
Deciding to donate your body to a medical school may be easy or difficult for you, but once you've made that choice, it's time to get to work on making it happen. The Uniform Anatomical Gift Act, passed in 1968, created guidelines to help you do just that. As long as you are 18 or older and in sound mind, you may donate your body to the school of your choice.

1
Find a medical or dental school that you would like to donate your body to. Make sure the school accepts donations of bodies, and request a registration form.

Fill out the registration form. Try to get family members to witness the signature, if possible, to help make them aware of your wishes.
-
-

Upon your death, a family member or doctor would need to call the school or its pager number to inform the appropriate party.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't want to make the decision yourself, you can tell your family that you're interested in donating your body. They may choose the school for you at the time of your death.
Even if you want to donate your body to a medical school, it may not be possible. If you have certain infectious diseases or if your death is caused by a violent act or accident, the school may not be able to accept your donation.
