How to Make a Hillbilly Golf Set
A hillbilly golf set is the perfect gag gift for the golfer in your life. Made with all natural materials, the golf set will be the talk of the party. Plan on spending an afternoon or day making this project, but keep in mind that half of the fun is that the clubs are in no way perfect and will not be used for playing actual golf.
Things You'll Need
- Bamboo or other straight sticks
- Dried corncobs
- Sharp knife
- Drill with a 1/2-inch bit
- Hot glue gun with glue (optional)
- King-size cotton pillowcase
- 3 feet of medium-weight rope
- Walnuts or other large round unshelled nuts

Choose bamboo or other sticks that are approximately 1/2 inch in diameter and 4 feet long. If you're using sticks, they need to be fairly straight but can have some bends and curves if that's all you can find.

Use a sharp knife to cut the dried corncobs into pieces approximately 3 to 4 inches long. Shape the corncob pieces to resemble putters, wedges and other golf club heads.

Drill a hole through the top of the corncob pieces to insert the bamboo or stick handles using the drill and bit.

Insert a bamboo pole or stick into each drilled hole. You can use hot glue to secure the sticks in place, if desired. These are your hillbilly golf clubs.

Take a pillowcase and cut a small slit near one of the seams on the open end of the pillowcase.

Thread a medium-weight length of rope though the slit until it comes out on the other side. Tie the ends of the rope together. This is your golf club bag.

Place the clubs in the pillowcase bag and add several unshelled walnuts or hickory nuts to use as golf balls. Pull the rope tight around the club handles to keep the hillbilly golf set together.
