Headlights on many models of the Honda Goldwing are notorious of short lamp life. However, the replacement of these lights is easy. So, rather than pay high labor charges for a shop to replace your headlight, you can do it yourself.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Replacement headlight for model
  • Standard tool-set
  • Wire brush (if needed)

    Instructions

  1. Step 1

Remove the seat from the motorcycle and disconnect the bike's battery by unscrewing the connections from both battery posts using a Phillips screwdriver. This will prevent you from getting accidentally shocked while working on the headlight.

  2. Step 2

Open the headlight assembly by removing the mounting screw on the bottom the housing. Then, unscrew the front of the entire assembly.

  3. Step 3

Lay the front cover and lens on a clean cloth. Then, pull the old headlight out of the assembly. Slide back the connection covers on both of the headlight's cables, and disconnect them by gently pulling them apart.

  4. Step 4

    Dispose of the old headlight.

  5. Step 5

Plug in the connections for the new headlight and slide the connection cover back over the plugs.

  6. Step 6

Slide the new headlight back into the housing assembly, and screw the front lens back in.

  7. Step 7

Make sure the front lens is secure, then replace the mounting bolt in the bottom of the assembly.

  8. Step 8

Reconnect the battery connectors to the motorcycle's battery and replace the bike's seat.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the headlight connectors are corroded in any way, remove the chemical corrosion by scraping it off with a wire brush.
  • Always use caution when working around potentially sharp pieces of equipment.
