How To Make an Anime Character
Anime characters are cute and fun to draw. If you draw your own anime character, you can make it have the exact features and colors you want. Then you can use it as an avatar or profile picture, or just hang it on your wall.

Look at all your favorite anime characters and think about what characteristics you like. Anime characters have different styles and colors of hair and very different outfits. But they all have similar face shapes and are all cute.

Draw the outline of the face. The typical anime face is mostly round, with low cheeks and a tiny pointed chin. The eyes are set low on the face and are very big and round. The nose is a tiny sideways V. The mouth is a small line or triangle.

Sketch the body. Start with big loose lines to get the general shapes the way you want them. Sketch in the arms and legs. Typical anime arms and legs are rounded and not angular.

Draw the outfit on top of the sketch of the body. Anime costumes often include skirts and kneesocks. They can have stripes or bows. Sometimes they have animal ears or tails.

Once you've settled on a drawing you like, trace over it with a waterproof black marker. Wait till that dries, then carefully erase the pencil marks.

Now you can color it in. Remember, your anime character can have any color hair you want -- even green or pink. Anime often uses highlights and sparkly places, especially on the eyes and hair. If you have a scanner, consider trying to color your character in on the computer. You will get a nice flat color with a click of the mouse.

Use your anime character as your avatar or just hang it on the wall to enjoy it. Or, start all over and build a second character to go with it.

Tips & Warnings
If you plan to scan your anime character and paint it on the computer, make sure your black lines all touch each other when you do the black line drawing. This will make it easier to color in with a paint bucket.
