How to Reset an iPod 30 Gig

The iPod 30 gigabyte model can freeze, become unresponsive, or the display screen can go blank completely due to a number of reasons. The iPod has a built in reset function. The reset function usually fixes these common problems so that it does not have to be sent in to be fixed.

      Move the "Hold" switch to the "On" position then back to the "Off" position.

      Press and hold down the "Menu" and "Select" buttons on the iPod for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

      Connect the iPod to your computer by using the iPod USB connect cable to charge it for a minute which can unfreeze it if the previous steps did not work.

      Remove the iPod from any power source to let it's battery drain and retry steps 1 and 2.

Tips & Warnings

  • When the Menu and Select buttons are being held down make sure the Menu button is pressed towards the outside of the wheel. It might be necessary to repeat step one, two or three times.
