Things You'll Need:
- High speed drill
- Metal-cutting drill bit set
- Masking or painting tape
- Spring clamps
- Water in spray bottle
- Grease pen
-
Step 1
Measure and mark with your grease pen where you want to drill your hole.
-
Step 2
Place your plexiglass on a piece of wood that you don't mind drilling into. It is best to use a hard surface of wood rather then a surface such as foam to prevent the plexiglass from bowing and cracking while you drill through. Use your spring clamps to hold the plexiglass in place on the wooden table so that it will not move while drilling.
-
Step 3
Apply the masking or painters tape over the area you are going to drill. This tape will prevent chipping.
-
Step 4
Use water in a spray bottle as a lubricating liquid to keep the plexiglass cool. Spray on the plexiglass as you are drilling to keep it wet.
-
Step 5
Drill a pilot hole first. For example, if you are drilling 1/4-inch hole, drill 1/8-inch hole first, then increase the drill bit size until the proper size is achieved. Apply gentle pressure, keeping a steady hand.
