Making a purse out of old Kool-Aid Jammers pouches is a green and fashionable craft you can do in just a few hours. The packaging doesn't end up in a trash can, much less a landfill, making it not only fun but eco-friendly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut off the bottom of the pouches over a pitcher, which will catch the juice. Make the bottom edge completely even.

  2. Step 2

Rinse the pouches until they are clean.

  3. Step 3

Stand two Kool-Aid Jammers pouches upright and pin the pouches together with the longer edges of the two bags overlapping. Sew the two pouches together using a short zigzag stitch. Do this another two times. These three panels will serve as the bag's facing and bottom.

  4. Step 4

Sew the three pouch sets together along the horizontal edge. Fold the sets to create a U-shape.

  5. Step 5

Fold two more pouches in half and create a normal (non-zigzagged) line of stitching down the middle of each pouch. Pin and sew the edges of this pouch to the sides of the U-shape, and sew them in.

  6. Step 6

Hem the top of the bag by folding down the pressed top part of the Jammers pouch packaging, pinning and sewing it down with a zigzag stitch.

  7. Step 7

Pin the short ends of two pouches together. Fold them in half, and fold them in half again. Pin and sew at the edge of this strip. Do this for another two pouches. This will serve as the straps for your purse.

  8. Step 8

Pin the straps about an inch into the bags with the straps about 6 inches apart, and sew them down. Use your bag.

Tips & Warnings
  • To avoid the holes that pinning can cause, try tape or paper clamps as an alternative. You can also do this craft with other juice pouch drinks or even cardboard boxes.
