When people hear of fruitcake, a lot of them make a face. Fruitcakes don't have to be that dreaded gift that gets passed back and forth every year. If made correctly, a fruitcake can be one of the most moist and delicious cakes you've ever put in your mouth. Bake your friends and family a homemade fruitcake this year and watch their faces light up in surprise as they eat this delightful dessert. Fruitcake recipes are tasty enough to be baked any time of the year.

  • Loaf pans
  • Baking spray
  • Aluminum foil
  • Almonds
  • ½ cup candied pineapple
  • ½ cup candied cherries
  • ½ cup candied orange
  • ½ cup candied lemon
  • All-purpose flour
  • Baking powder
  • Salt
  • Nutmeg
  • Ginger
  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • Eggs
  • Vanilla
  • Almond extract
  • Milk
  • Fruit juice

    How to Make Homemade Fruitcake Recipes

  1. Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease the bottom and sides of a loaf pan with baking spray and then line it with aluminum foil.

  2. Step 2

    Chop the almonds until you have ¾ cup and put in a small bowl. Also chop the candied fruit into small pieces and add ¼ cup each into a small bowl.

  3. Step 3

    Put 2 ¼ cups flour, 2 tsp. baking powder and 1/8 tsp. salt in a bowl.

  4. Step 4

    Take ½ cup butter and 1 cup sugar and mix together in a bowl. Cream the sugar and butter together until fluffy. Add three eggs, blending well after each egg. Next, add 1 tsp. vanilla and almond extract and mix well.

  5. Step 5

    Add the flour to the butter mixture and then ½ cup milk and mix together. Add the candied fruit and chopped almonds to the batter and stir together.

  6. Step 6

    Pour the mixture into the loaf pan and place in the oven. Bake for 90 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Take out and let sit at least 10 minutes before serving.

    Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a loaf pan and line with aluminum foil.

    Chop the candied fruits and almonds into smaller pieces and set aside.

    Put 2 ¼ cup all-purpose flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1/8 tsp. salt, nutmeg and ginger in a bowl.

    Cream together ½ cup butter and 1 cup sugar. Add three eggs, beating after addition. Also add 1 tsp. vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.

  12. Step 5

    Add the dry ingredients to the mixture and mix together. Next, add the candied fruit and almond pieces to the batter.

  13. Step 6

    Put the batter into a loaf pan and set in the oven. Let bake for about 90 minutes. Check to see if done by inserting a toothpick in the middle of the fruitcake. If the toothpick comes out clean, it's done.

  14. Step 7

    Take out of the pan and let cool completely on a wire rack. Pour a small amount of fruit juice of your choice over the fruitcake. Next, wrap entirely in aluminum foil and store away for a couple of weeks. Serve and enjoy.
