Use the Blackberry Desktop Manager

The BlackBerry Desktop Manager is specialized software that helps you manage your BlackBerry applications, media and helps you create back-up files should something happen and your BlackBerry gets reset. The BlackBerry Desktop Manager is easily downloaded from the BlackBerry website and is an essential tool if you keep much content on your BlackBerry.

From Quick Guide: Blackberry Guide
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download the Desktop Manager software from the BlackBerry website (see link in Resources). Once it has finished downloading, double click on the "Installer" to complete the process. Restart your computer.

  2. Step 2

Open your Desktop Manager by double clicking. You will have to go through a set-up wizard that will need information about you and your phone. You will also be able to set preferences during this wizard.

  3. Step 3

Plug in your phone. You can use any standard mini-USB cord and will need to put the small end of the cord in your phone's data/charging port and the large end into your computer's USB drive. If this is the first time you have connected your phone to the computer, a little window will pop-up. You may have to install drivers. Follow the prompts before continuing.

  4. Step 4

Manage your content. The BlackBerry Device Manager is easy to navigate and has five different functions. Each is represented by an icon: Media Management allows you to organize and rename media content; Application Loader installs new BlackBerry Applications on your phone; Backup and Restore copies and replaces important files; Device Switch Wizard commutes content between BlackBerries; and Synchronize lets you customize email and messaging preferences.
