How to Make Rustic Picture Frames

Rustic twig picture frames are great gift ideas for someone you know who loves the great outdoors. Follow the steps below to create your own rustic picture frame.

Things You'll Need

• Twigs
• Parcel string
• Glue gun
• Cardboard
• Pencil
• Scissors
• Photo

Instructions

1. Trace a frame shape onto your cardboard. First, draw a rectangle with the dimensions of the photo that you want to frame. Then, draw a larger rectangle around that to create the width of your picture frame. This is your base.

2. Collect twigs from your yard. Choose thin twigs no larger than a pencil that you can work with easily.

3. 

   Arrange the twigs on the cardboard picture frame in straight lines. Run them horizontally across the top and bottom of the frame, and vertically down the sides. Depending in the width of your picture frame, you should be able to lay three to five twigs in a row.

4. Glue the twigs onto the cardboard with the hot glue gun.

5. When dry, use the parcel string to tie rustic bows on each corner. Simply loop the string around the corner several times and then tie it like a shoelace. Glue the center of the knot for security.

6. Glue the photo you want to frame to a piece of cardboard that you've cut to be 1/2-inch larger than the photo on all sides.

7. Glue the cardboard and picture to the back of the frame so that the picture faces forward. Let it dry and enjoy.
