A very fun instrument to have around is the conga drum. This ancient form of tribal music is a large wooden drum barrel with an animal skin stretched over the top. Over time a conga drum can become very dusty and dirty. Cleaning a conga drum is a little different from the way you would clean a normal plastic or fiberglass drum, but cleaning a conga drum is fairly easy when you follow the proper procedures.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • High quality wood furniture polish (such as Pledge)
  • Leather saddle soap
  • Water
  • Microfiber towel
  1. Step 1

Dust the entire conga drum with a dry microfiber towel.

  2. Step 2

Spray furniture polish on the wooden sides of the drum. Circularly polish them with a microfiber towel.

  3. Step 3

Mix 2 cups of warm water with a 1/8 tsp. of saddle soap.

  4. Step 4

Dab a microfiber towel in the mix. Circularly scrub the stretched leather hide on the drum with the damp saddle soap towel.

  5. Step 5

Allow the drum to air dry for several hours.
