Start at one end of your house and string the lights following the line of your gutter. You can attach the lights to the house with a staple gun or with a hammer and nails if you don't own a staple gun. String the lights along the gutter on each level of your roof including the porch roof.

String the lights around the frame of each window on the front of your house. If you use lights with removable bulbs, you can remove the bulbs from the strand going in between the windows so they aren't visible from the street.

Hang lights around the frame of your front door and the garage door if you have one. All of your lights should create clean straight lines outlining the front of your house.
