How to Make a Kid's Jewelry Box
A jewelry box is a small box used to hold rings, bracelets, necklaces and other forms of jewelry. Usually made of wood, they can contain drawers or compartments for a variety of different pieces of jewelry. A kid's jewelry box can be almost any kind of box. It should be as attractive and special as all the small treasures it contains.
Things You'll Need
- Cigar box or similar wooden box
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- White glue
- Sequins, stars, decals
- Small mirror

Clean out your future jewelry box to make sure it is free of debris. Lightly sponge off the inside and outside. Let dry.

Paint the outside of the box your kid's favorite color. Let dry.

Paint the inside of your kid's jewelry box an attractive contrasting color. Let dry.

Close the box. Use glue to draw the first letter of your kid's name. Use your imagination; let the letter look fanciful and fun.

Sprinkle sequins on top of the glue. Use the glue to draw the other letters of your kid's name, one at a time. Cover each with sequins.

Attach stars and sequins on the outside of your kid's jewelry box. Paint small designs in other colors. Let your imagination be your guide.

Open the lid of the box. Glue a small mirror on the inside of the box lid.

Tips & Warnings
Paint the box in different bands of color if that is what your kid likes. Make the lid of the jewelry box a different color from the body. You can glue thin padding or material on the inside of the box.
Spread plenty of newspaper in your work area. If working with kids on the jewelry box, be careful with glue and paint. Use nontoxic paints.
