How to Cure a Baking Stone
Baking stones are wonderful cooking utensils because they bake the food evenly. Baking stones are usually rectangular or circular in shape. Use them to make pizza, crescent rolls, or cookies. Because baking stones are porous and they cure easily. Within a few quick minutes, your baking stone will be ready for that next pizza, dozen dinner rolls, or batch of cookies. Wipe the stone with vegetable oil or olive oil. Apply the oil generously to the top and bottom of the stone making sure you cover the whole stone.

Place the stone in a cold oven. Heat the oven to 350 degrees and leave the stone for 1 1/2 hours.

Turn off the oven and let the stone cool down. When cool, take it out, wash it with warm water, and wipe it dry.

Prepare food to cook on the stone. Once the stone is cured, it is ready to use. Each time you use it, it will darken from a stone color to brown or black.

Grease the stone. If you are baking cookies that may stick, spray the stone with cooking oil. The oil will penetrate and continue to darken the stone.

Tips & Warnings
Wash your baking stone with warm water and wipe dry. Take off dried food with a plastic scraper. Always let the stone cool to room temperature.
Do not use harsh soap on the stone. Avoid extreme temperature changes. Do not place the stone under a broiler.
