Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2-liter bottle
  • Craft knife
  • Hole punch, ice pick or nail
  • 3 feet of wire or string
  • Bird seed or stale bread
  • Black marker
  1. Step 1

Clean and dry the 2-liter bottle. Put the lid back on the bottle.

  2. Step 2

With the marker, draw three squares on the outside of the bottle, just under the neck of the bottle. Make the squares large enough for birds to get their necks in as the level of the seed goes down.

  3. Step 3

Cut the top and side edges out with the craft knife. Do not cut the bottom line of the square. Fold the square out to create a platform for the birds to sit on.

  4. Step 4

Punch two holes in the neck of the bottle with a hole punch, ice pick or nail. Thread the wire or string through both holes. Even out the wire or string, and either twist or tie together. Depending on where you put the feeder, you may have to adjust the length of the wire or string to keep squirrels from getting into it.

  5. Step 5

Fill the bird feeder with bird seed through the holes you just made until the seed is just under the perches. Hang from a tree, carport, roof or hook in front of a window.

Tips & Warnings
  • Paint the outside of the bottle in flowers.
  • Use care when using an craft knife since these are extremely sharp.
