How to Make a Fun Poster
Making a custom poster is a fun and easy way to display your unique style. You can create fun posters to send a personal message or to place your artwork on. Fun posters can be created at very little cost by using a print-on-demand website, such as CafePress. You can upload as many as 50 poster designs on CafePress, and place the designs on as many items as you wish. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you make a basic large poster and a small poster.

Install Adobe Photoshop on your computer. The Adobe Photoshop program can be purchased in the full version at any computer or office supply store, but the full version is very expensive. Luckily, you can download a free limited version online at websites such as Soft32 (see "Resources.") The free limited version is equipped with the tools necessary to create a custom poster. On the Soft32 website, click on the blue link titled "Download Photoshop." The installation will start right away.

Create a new file. Inside Photoshop, click on the word "File" at the top left side of the screen. When the list drops down, click on "New." You should see a window that will let you enter in the dimensions of your image file. For a small poster, enter in 16 inches for the width, and 20 inches for the height. For a large poster, enter in 23 inches for the width, and 35 inches for the height. Enter at least 300 dpi for the resolution, then click "OK."

Locate the tool box, which is a vertical box containing the Photoshop tools. Inside the tool box you will see a capital letter "T", which is the "Text" tool. Click on the "Text" tool and drag a marquee box across the image. Click inside that box to begin typing your message. When you are finished typing, edit your text by clicking on the adjustment tools in the middle and top of the screen, These tools will allow your to change the font type, color and size of the text.

Place your poster image on items at CafePress. Go to the main web page of CafePress (see "Resources"). Register for a free account, then go to your account page. Click on the link in the middle of the screen called "Manage Sections and Products." Load your poster image using the CafePress image loader. Select the items you would like the image to be printed on, including posters, banners and signs.
