How to Take Care of a Dog in RuneScape
The ability to have a pet dog is one of the privileges of being a member of RuneScape. You can purchase the puppies from the pet shop in the member city of Taverley. The types of dogs you can own in RuneScape include Labradors, Dalmatians, greyhounds, sheepdogs and terriers. You must have a Summoning level of 4 to purchase a dog and properly take care of him.

Visit Pikkupstix in Taverley to begin the Wolf Whistle Quest. Go to White Wolf Mountain to kill two wolves. Gather their bones and take them back to Pikkupstix.

Follow the instructions to get rid of the Giant Wolpertinger upstairs. Once you have done this, you will have a Summoning level of 4. If you have not already done so, get 500 gold pieces and head to the pet shop directly south of where you began the quest. Talk to the pet shop owner to buy your pet dog.

Select the puppy in your inventory. Select the "Drop" option to allow the dog to follow you around RuneScape.

Kill cows, bears and rats. You can find many cows and rats in Lumbridge. You can find bears in Varrock. Collect their meat and bones in your inventory.

Feed the raw meat and bones to your pet dog. Keep in mind that although the bones will make your dog happier, they will not satisfy his hunger.

Click the "Summoning" button at the bottom of your RuneScape screen to monitor your dog's hunger and growth. This button looks like a howling wolf. Always make sure that you feed your dog before his hunger level exceeds 10 percent. If you don't, he may run away from you. Feeding your dog regularly will also help him to grow into an adult dog more quickly.

Click the whistle in your Summoning window when you want to call your pet. This will bring him back to you if he's gotten stuck behind a door or other obstacle.

Pick up your dog to place him in your inventory when you won't have time to care for him. Place him in your bank vault when you plan to be in combat.

Tips & Warnings
You can talk to your pet dog once you reach Summoning level 14. You can only have one dog at any given time in RuneScape. If you dismiss your dog within the Summoning interface, he will be gone forever.
