Step 1
Buy a trap with a spring-loaded door. Both Havahart traps and the humane mouse trap sold by the Cruelty Free Shop work by trapping a mouse once it enters the trap.

Bait the trap with a small amount of peanut butter on a cracker. Place the bait near the middle of the trap's floor.

Place the door in the open position and wait for a mouse to appear. When the mouse steps on the door trigger, the door will slam shut, trapping the mouse in the cage.

Make your mouse trap with an empty toilet paper roll, a raisin and a tall trash bin.

Flatten the toilet paper roll slightly so that it doesn't roll and place it on the edge of a kitchen counter.

Balance the toilet paper roll so that one end extends over the counter.

Place the raisin in the end of the roll that hangs over the floor.

Put the trash bin under the toilet paper roll. When the mouse enters the toilet paper roll, its weight will cause the roll to drop into the trash bin.

Try a humane mouse trap that works with a bottle that you provide. The Humane Mouse Trap, sold by Clean Air Gardening, is shaped like a big piece of cheese and attached to a plastic bottle.

Place bait in the bottle and attach the cheese to the mouth of the bottle.

Place the trap on a floor or counter. When a mouse enters the trap, a ball and spring located in the cheese will activate, trapping the mouse inside.

Fill a bucket half-full with water and add a sponge or other floating item that can support the weight of a mouse.

Place the bucket's handle in the upright position and tie a piece of string to the top of the handle.

Attach a piece of food to the end of the string and let it dangle over the sponge. When the mouse tries to reach the food, it will fall into the water and won't be able to get out of the water. Mice are good swimmers and your captured mouse will swim to the sponge and wait for you to free it.
