Removing tape from walls can be tricky under the best of circumstances, but if the walls are painted it can be a down right pain. It is best to have some touch up paint on hand for this project just in case things don't go well. Most products and other recommendations about removing tape from paint will damage the paint in some way. When it comes to action, there is one way that will do the least damage.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hairdryer
  • Razor
  • White cloth
  1. Step 1

Turn the hairdryer on and apply heat to the wall where the tape is located for about 30 to 45 seconds. This will loosen the glue of the tape and make it easier to remove.

  2. Step 2

Using the razor at an angle almost flat with the wall, scrape up the end of the piece of tape.

  3. Step 3

Take hold of the tape with your fingers and gently pull the tape off. Do not go fast or you might take the paint off along with the tape. If the tape starts to cool or becomes difficult to remove, reapply the heat. You can also use the razor to help remove a particularly stubborn piece.

  4. Step 4

Once the tape is off the wall, use the hairdryer to apply heat to any glue residue that might remain. Do not direct the hairdryer at the wall for more that 30 to 45 seconds at a time.

  5. Step 5

Take a dry white rag and rub the spot where the glue is to remove it from the wall. The heat should make it somewhat sticky and it should attach to the cloth. Be sure to use a white rag, since a colored one might stain the wall.
