How to Treat Facial Folliculitis
Facial folliculitis is essentially a skin condition that is characterized by an infection of the follicles on the face. It will usually manifest as small bumps of a reddish color that may be relatively tender and itchy. Sometimes, these bumps may develop into small blisters or boils that can break and even scar, but that is really in more severe cases. Most of the time, a breakout of facial folliculitis will basically go away on its own accord, but you may want to consult with a physician if the condition persists and worsens, or if it has become a recurrent problem of your skin.

1
Replace your regular face wash with an antibacterial cleanser formulated for the face. Make sure to wash both in the morning and at night to remedy the condition.
-
2
Apply an antibacterial ointment or hydrocortisone cream to the affected areas after washing.
-
-
3
Invest in a lotion made with oatmeal. Oatmeal can soothe the skin and help to clear up the infection that is currently affecting your follicles.
-
4
Moisten a towel or washcloth with warm water and place it on the affected areas of your face. You should do this periodically through the day until the condition clears up.
-
5
Wash any towel or washcloth after each use. Since this is an infection of the follicle, you need to make sure that you don't "re-infect" the area by placing a soiled towel or washcloth back on your face.
-
6
Consult a physician if the facial folliculitis hasn't cleared after a few days. You may need to be placed on a prescription medication, like an antibiotic or anti-fungal cream, to treat your condition.

Tips & Warnings
Mix about a tsp. of salt with a quart of hot water and submerge a towel or washcloth into the solution, allowing enough time to for the material to soak up the liquid. Place on the affected areas of the skin, much like you would do with a moistened cloth, and allow to set for anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. This can speed up the recovery for some cases of facial folliculitis.
