Inject B12

The primary function of vitamin B12 is to produce red blood cells and help maintain a healthy nervous system. A deficiency in B12 can result in anemia, leaving you feeling tired, short of breath, listless and prone to infections. Long-term deficiency can result in neurological damage and nerve degeneration. A B12 deficiency is usually the result of your body's inability to absorb it rather than a dietary issue. Your doctor may prescribe B12 shots to help boost your energy and support your health.

Instructions

    • 1

Read the instructions on the package thoroughly and follow them exactly as instructed.

    • 2

Wash your hands well with soap and water before handling the syringe.

    • 3

Select a muscular area of the body for the shot and dab it with a clean cotton ball soaked in alcohol. Each time you administer the shot, choose a different area. Your doctor will be able to instruct you.

    • 4

Gently "nip up" the skin and insert the needle into that spot at a 45-degree angle. Release the skin.

    • 5

Slowly and steadily press down on the plunger and inject the B12. When all of the B12 has been injected, carefully pull the needle out.

    • 6

Soak a clean cotton ball in alcohol and press it down on the injection site.

    • 7

Safely dispose of the needle and syringe.
