How to Make Soy Massage Candles

Almost everyone loves candles, the scent and the atmosphere. Equally, maybe even more so, most people enjoy getting a massage. Combine a massage with the scent and feel of a soy massage candle and you have an experience that can be relaxing and enjoyable and even romantic used under the right circumstances. Soy massage candles can be used during a therapeutic massage or for your personal massage regime. Making this type of candle is not a difficult process, however it can be tricky when you are attempting to combine just the right ingredients that will please the sense of smell and of touch.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare your ingredients. Your ingredient amounts will vary depending on the amount of candles you will be making and the size of the candles. You will need too add 1-ounce of carrier oil for every 3-ounces of soy wax that you will be using.

    • 2

Place the soy wax/carrier oil mixture into the top half of the double boiler. Add water to the bottom part of the double boiler and heat the water on medium until it becomes hot.

    • 3

Place the top part of the double boiler into the bottom half. Use a wooden spoon to stir the wax mixture slowly and help break up any clumps that may appear.

    • 4

Add the desired fragrance and gently stir it in the mixture. You will want to use 1/2-ounce of fragrance for the 3-ounce soy/1-ounce carrier oil mixture. Stir the mixture gently and allow the fragrance oil or essential oil to blend well.

    • 5

Remove the mixture from the heat and set aside, allowing it to cool.

    • 6

Pour the wax mixture into the candle container once it has cool to the point that a light film forms on top of the wax. You do not want the wax to cool too much, as it will become hard to pour.

    • 7

Allow the candle to cool and the wax to harden for several hours before burning.

    • 8

Once the candle has completely cooled and hardened it is ready for use.

    • 9

Trim the wick to ¼ inch for optimum burning.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not heat the wax to a very high temperature. Medium heat will work fine to melt the wax.
