1
Use a skimmer net to remove leaves from the top surface of the water. This will keep excess debris from settling on the bottom of the pool.

2
Turn on filter pump after you are finished swimming in the pool for the day. This will remove any debris that has been stirred up from the bottom and keep it from resettling. Additionally, run the filter at least five hours per day to remove debris from the mid-level waters of the pool, thereby keeping it from ending up on on the pool floor.

3
Brush the pool floor with a soft bristled pool brush once a week to remove and reduce algae and other fungus buildup.

4
Vacuum the pool at least once per week. Move the pool vacuum slowly across the the bottom of the pool to suck up excess dirt. Don't move the cleaner too quickly or it will stir up the dirt and make it more difficult to clean.

5
Use a leaf vacuum to remove larger debris or when your pool is really soiled. This tool operates in the same way as the pool vacuum. Leaves and dirt are suctioned into a large net at the top of the vacuum. When the net is full, it can be removed from the cleaner, emptied and reattached for further use.
