People with diabetes have to monitor their blood sugar. Having a high blood sugar level can lead to diabetic complications, and it is important to maintain a normal level. Fortunately, there are different ways to safely lower high blood sugar and maintain your health.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start an exercise routine. Exercising naturally lowers your blood sugar, and starting a regular workout routine can help you maintain a low level. Exercise three to four times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Buy chromium supplements. Chromium is a vitamin supplement that is proven to lower blood sugar. Purchase this supplement from your local health food store and take as directed. Talk with your doctor before taking any vitamins or supplements.

  3. Step 3

Drink decaf drinks. Caffeine can raise your blood sugar level. Drink decaf coffee and teas (without sugar), to reduce your blood sugar.

  4. Step 4

Eat cinnamon. Cinnamon is an effective remedy for high blood sugar. Sprinkle a tsp. of cinnamon in your coffee or on top of your yogurt, or purchase cinnamon capsules.

  5. Step 5

Drink plenty of water. Drink eight to 10 glasses of water a day. This removes excess sugar from your body, which helps you maintain a low blood sugar level.

  6. Step 6

Take your medication as directed. Doctors normally prescribe blood sugar medication to persons with diabetes. If your blood sugar reading reveals a high level, take your medication.
