Instructions

    • 1

Rub the baby's stomach for relief from the stomach pain of your colicky baby.

    • 2

Take a drive. Often the jostling of the vehicle can calm a baby enough to ease his crying.

    • 3

Rocking the baby can often lull the baby long enough to stop crying and fall asleep.

    • 4

Go to your local herb store and purchase peppermint. Peppermint has been known to help colicky babies.

    • 5

Giving the baby a warm bath is another way to relax the colicky baby from crying.

    • 6

Place the baby inside a baby bouncer and let the gentle jostling soothe your baby's tears.

    • 7

Swaddle baby in a baby blanket. This can help make the baby feel warm, comforted and can sometimes quiet the baby.

    • 8

Make sure the elastic on the baby's pants aren't rubbing her tummy, causing her pain.

    • 9

Avoid bright lights if at all possible. Soft-lit rooms are best for a crying, colicky baby.

    • 10

Sit on the washing machine. Yep, you guessed it; this old, wives tale really does work. There is something about sitting on the jostling washing machine that can stop the baby's crying and sometimes bring a smile to his face.

Playing soft music is another way to create a peaceful environment for a colicky baby.
