How to Make a Flag Banner
Brightly colored flag banners are a popular outdoor decoration. They can be used to welcome the seasons or for holidays or other special occasions. Commercial banners can be expensive, especially if you want several different designs to use throughout the year; yet, they are simple and inexpensive to make. By making your own, you can guarantee yours will be like no other on your block.

1
Fold down a 5-inch seam on the short side of your large felt rectangle. Sew along the edge with a zigzag stitch. This will be the top of your banner.

2
Cut out the elements of your intended design from the colored felt. Pin them onto the large rectangle of felt where you want them to be. Sew on each piece of colored felt individually making sure that the edges of each piece of fabric line up next to each other and do not overlap.

Tips & Warnings
Instead of sewing on your shapes, use a felt glue to attach them. Sew streamers to the bottom to flutter in the wind. Use outdoor fabric instead of felt.
Do not allow your banner to obscure your address when hung.
