Instructions

    • 1

Use a utility knife to cut the box into the desired configuration. Consider the purpose of the container you are making when choosing a box. Use a box with a lid if you want it to be covered. A narrow box can be cut off at an angle to make a magazine holder. Use small boxes as jewelry storage or for gift giving.

Carefully wrap the box with the wrapping paper. Wrap the paper completely over the edges and secure to the inside of the box with tape. Make sure all of your folds and edges are neat, and hide as many as possible on the bottom of the box. If your box has a lid, wrap that as well in the same paper or a complementary paper.

    • 3

Cover the wrapped box and lid completely with contact paper. This will protect the box and make it look more finished. Smooth the contact paper on carefully, avoiding air pockets.

Tips & Warnings

  • Instead of wrapping paper, cover the boxes in waterproof shelf paper. Stack several different sized boxes in a corner for an attractive storage solution for magazines and newspapers.

  • Use caution when using a utility knife.
