How to Clean a Steam Vaporizer

The problem is, the more you use your vaporizer, the dirtier the remaining water gets and it puts out less and less steam with each use. It'll only take a few minutes to clean your steam vaporizer, and before you know it it'll be working like new. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the vaporizer and remove the top section as though you were going to refill the holding tank.

    • 2

Place the tank in the kitchen sink and add 2 inches of hot water.

    • 3

Squirt three drops of dish soap into the vaporizer tank.

    • 4

Scrub the inside of the tank vigorously, using a sponge and taking care to clean all curves and crevices.

    • 5

Rinse the tank thoroughly with lukewarm water, dumping the tank several times until all suds are gone.

    • 6

Fill the tank as for normal use with cold water to the "Fill" line.

    • 7

Add 1/8 tsp. of table salt to the tank of water. Replace the vaporizer top, plug it in and run as usual. When the vaporizer has disbursed the tank of water, repeat the process to remove any remaining sediment.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use 1/8 tsp. salt in every tank of water to maintain your vaporizer. If the vaporizer "spits" water instead of steaming, reduce the amount of salt slightly.
