Many women today want to look their best at all times and this includes taking care of their hair color. The majority of the time, you can use hair color in a box and achieve the desired result, but occasionally the hair color that you choose will give you a color that is too dark or that simply does not work with your skin color. There are ways, however, to correct the problem without having to go to a professional hair colorist.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Widetooth comb
  • Hair color remover kit
  • New box of hair color
  1. Step 1

Take a small drop of dishwashing liquid and place it in your hair. Work up a lather and this will help to remove the unwanted hair color.

  2. Step 2

Rinse out the dishwashing liquid thoroughly. Dry the hair to check if the desired color has been achieved.

  3. Step 3

If the offending color is still in the hair, use a hair color remover kit, which can be purchased at any drugstore. Follow the instructions on the box to completely remove any unwanted hair color.

  4. Step 4

Dry the hair completely. Use a new box of hair color to achieve the desired shade.

  5. Step 5

If the hair color is still not satisfactory, consult a professional hair colorist. She will be able to help you achieve the result that you want.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not use more than a small drop of dishwashing liquid, as the extra soap could remove more moisture from the hair than is desired. Do not use more than one box of hair color remover, as this could severely damage the hair.
  • If your hair is broken and severely damaged, do not use the hair color remover kit, but instead go directly to a professional hair colorist to fix the problem.
