  1. How to Decorate a Military-Themed Tree House

    • 1

Ensure everything you purchase is either camouflage or matches the camouflage color pattern. If the camouflage is desert-colored, then yellow, tan and medium-brown shades are acceptable. Woodland camouflage can be matched with olive green, forest green and even a muted aquamarine tone. Anything that obviously clashes with these colors will immediately take away from the military-style look.

    • 2

Install cargo netting as the primary way to get in and out of the tree house. A ladder can be used for secondary entry and exit. If your tree house residents need a little help, place a ladder directly behind the cargo netting or paint the ladder with a camouflage pattern.

    • 3

Line at least one wall with cargo netting and install various hooks on it for their "military" gear, such as canteens and binoculars. Draw a rough map of the neighborhood and hang that on the same wall. For even more dramatic flair, include a pointer stick to use with the map.

    • 4

Decorate other walls and doors with military-themed posters such as the Uncle Sam "I Want YOU" poster. Pictures of movie stars in military uniforms can also enhance the theme.

    • 5

Hang airplane models from the ceilings and from large branches of the tree house. Use heavier-gauge fishing string for any planes that will be hung outdoors.

    • 6

Visit a military surplus store to purchase any uniform-related items. You can sometimes get wet weather gear like ponchos at these stores. If possible, purchase rank insignias from the various military branches and sporadically place them in between the posters in the tree house.
