How To Prevent Spider Veins During Pregnancy
Most women will experience some sort of change to the appearance of their skin while they're pregnant. Some will be fairly minor blemishes, like an increase in pimples or a change in patches of pigmentation, while others will experience more drastic changes in the appearance of their skin, like the formation of stretch marks and spider veins. To prevent the formation of spider veins during pregnancy, there are a few things a woman can do, outlined here.

1
Don't stay on your feet for extended periods of time during the day. This can avert the formation of spider veins (as well as varicose veins).
-
2
Sit with your feet propped up and don't cross your legs. You want to make sure the blood circulation remains as normal as possible during pregnancy. By keeping your legs elevated and uncrossed, the blood circulation should remain consistent.

3
Start exercising. While you're pregnant, make sure to start exercising, not just for your health, but to reduce the chances of spider veins (as well as varicose veins). Walking is your best bet during pregnancy; it'll keep your heart healthy and your blood circulating.
-
4
Maintain a healthy weight. Though you'll need to gain weight while you're pregnant, it really shouldn't be excessive. This undue weight can increase the chance in the development of spider veins. Consult with your doctor on the appropriate amount of weight gain you should expect.
-
5
Increase the amount of Vitamin C in your diet. Vitamin C maintains the elasticity of your veins, which keeps the blood circulating appropriately and reduces the formation of spider veins.
-
6
Flex your ankles. Intermittently flexing your ankles can stimulate the blood flow through your legs, therefore decreasing the potential of spider veins.
-
7
Keep your legs cool. This may sound a little odd, but by keeping your legs cool, the veins will not experience any distention (or at least a limited amount). Distention can cause blood to pool, which can prompt the formation of spider veins.
