How to Clean Kitchen Cupboards

Peering into the dark caverns of an uncleaned kitchen cupboard can be as scary as entering a dragon's cave. Fortunately, you don't need a sword to slay this dragon---just some extra time and some elbow grease. Perhaps the most important part of cleaning your kitchen cupboards is making sure that you get rid of any spoiled food. Make sure that you have fresh food to fill your clean cupboards when you are done. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Empty out your cupboards. Remove cans, jars and any other food containers.

    • 2

Toss out any old or expired food. Some food may still be "good" but may no longer be fit for its purpose, such as old, flavorless spices or rock-hard sugar(see Resources for a guide to food freshness).

    • 3

Remove any stained or old shelf liners.

    • 4

Wipe down the cupboard shelves with kitchen cleaner if you have plastic or laminated shelves or lining. Rinse off the kitchen cleaner with a damp rag or paper towel. If you have wooden shelves, wipe with dusting spray.

    • 5

Let the cupboards dry out. If you put food back while the inside is still wet, bacteria can grow in the dark cupboard interior.

    • 6

      Put down fresh shelf liners.

    • 7

      Replace your food containers.
