How to Diet to Boost Metabolism
Metabolism is the process by which our body turns food into energy, or in "diet" terms, the burning of calories. The more calories you burn, the more the weight loss. Certain foods can help boost your metabolism and lose weight. But it isn't just what you eat; it's also how you eat it.
Instructions
-
Increase Your Water Content
-
1
The best way to increase your metabolism is to drink more water. Every metabolic process needs water.
-
2
Eat fruits and vegetables as staples of your diet. Fruits and vegetables have a large water content and low number of calories. The more calories (fat and sugar) you consume, the slower your metabolic process.
-
-
3
Opt for fish. Salmon, trout and other fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids increase production of fat-burning enzymes and boost the metabolic activity of the body by almost 400 calories per day. Take fish oil capsules if fish is not your favorite meal.
-
4
Grill your chicken and red meat, rather than choosing higher-fat preparations. Too much fat causes the metabolic system to go into overdrive, and the more the metabolic system works, the slower it performs.
-
5
Spice up your food. It's been proved that spicy food helps your metabolism work faster. So add on the jalapenos and make yourself a hot dish that will boost your body to burn more fat.
Change Your Dietary Patterns
-
6
Eat frequently and have smaller portions. That is the base of a successful metabolic-boosting diet. Smaller meals throughout the day will not burden your body to slow itself down as it works to make energy of the food consumed.
-
7
Never skip a meal. You may think that skipping a meal will help you lose weight, but in fact, it will slow your metabolic system down. Always have your meals on time, but cut down on portion size.
-
8
Never eat from anything bigger than a lunch plate. Containers, dinner plates and bags always encourage you to eat more. Take a small portion of food out on the plate and stop when you finish. Drink some water and then have another meal in a couple of hours.

Tips & Warnings
To really boost your metabolism, include any form of exercise at least 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week to complement your diet. Aerobic exercise especially allows your body to burn more calories faster.
Never leave an entire food group out of your diet. Every food group is important for your health. Always inform your doctor before embarking on a diet plan.
