Candy wreaths make a sweet decoration. Make a wreath for the different holidays using the various types of holiday candies available. Use red and green wrapped candies for Christmas, red and white for Valentine's Day or orange and black for Halloween. Kids love making these wreaths and of course they will try sneaking pieces of candy when no one's looking.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Styrofoam Wreath
  • Hard Candy in Plastic Wrappers
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • 1-inch wide ribbon
  1. Step 1

Choose any size styrofoam wreath. A 14-inch wreath works great for hanging on a door. A smaller wreath works well for hanging in a window.

  2. Step 2

Spray paint your wreath to match the color of candies you are using. Painting the wreath helps to hide the styrofoam.

  3. Step 3

Choose any hard candy in plastic wrappers. Use candy for a particular holiday or choose a certain color scheme. Use a variety of candies and colors if desired. Keep the candies wrapped in the plastic wrappers.

  4. Step 4

Glue candies to the wreath starting at the top of the wreath. Place a drop of glue on the back of a piece of candy and stick it to the wreath. Continue covering the wreath until you can barely see the styrofoam. Overlap the candy to give it a fuller look.

  5. Step 5

Cut a piece of ribbon approximately 24 inches in length. Fold the ribbon in half bringing the ends together. Glue the middle of the ribbon to the top of the wreath then let it dry.

  6. Step 6

Tie the loose ends of the ribbon together leaving a loop for hanging. Either tie into a knot or a bow. Hang from a hanger on a door, over a door knob or in a window.

  7. Step 7

For edible wreaths keep the candy in the plastic wrappers. Either cut off the candy or simply slip the candy out of the plastic wrapper.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also attach the candy with small push pins instead of glue.
  • Supervise children when using a hot glue gun.
