How to Decorate a Bathroom With a Beach Theme
The word beach brings thoughts of sun, waves, shells, warm sunshine and relaxation. So why not bring the elements of an ocean beachfront into your home? What better place to bring those beach elements into your home than your bathroom. Creating a beach theme in your bathroom will bring an element of fun and relaxation, whether you are getting ready for work in the morning or taking a long soothing bath. Does this Spark an idea?

- Variety of shells, sand and perhaps a starfish or two
- Clear container
- Brightly colored striped hand towels and bath towels
- Brightly colored throw rug
- Beach themed shower curtain
- Beach themed soap dish
- Photos of the beach
- Small framed mirror and additional shells

Display brightly colored beach towels. In fact, you can even use those over-sized beach towels in your bathroom if you like. Or, you can go with solid or stripped brightly colored towels and hand towels. You can also think in terms of soft blues and whites or something more nautical like navy, red and white. You will then need to find (if you have a shower curtain and not glass doors to your shower) a shower curtain that will match the towels that you have chosen. You will also need to find a throw rug that will also match the colors that you have chosen. You now have the basics and can begin to decorate around them.

Find a clear glass container that will fit in a spot on your vanity and put a small amount of sand into the container. Arrange some shells and starfish in the sand. You might have shells that you have collected on a family vacation that you can use. These will add extra meaning to your small arrangement. If you like, you can even add a votive candle in the center of your arrangement.

Depending upon the size of your bathroom, you will need some ocean themed pictures to place on your walls. If you have taken a family vacation to the beach, it is a nice touch to place framed pictures of your family at the beach on your walls. Find some framed beach prints to put on your walls. You can even have your children draw, color or paint some beach scenes to frame and place on your walls. Make it a family activity--children love to have their artwork displayed.

If you are artistic, you might consider taking a small framed mirror and gluing shells around the frame. These are very attractive and if purchased can be quite costly. However, if you can make one yourself it will be rather inexpensive.

Tips & Warnings
Be on the lookout for inexpensive items that you can put in your beach themed bathroom. Summertime is a great time to find inexpensive items. For example, brightly colored plastic buckets that children use to play in the sand could hold additional towels or hair brushes and combs.
