How to Clean an Abetta Saddle

Riding in the rain or mud can cause leather to stain, and in some cases, rot if not cleaned properly. Cleaning consists of soap, brushes, saddle soap, saddle protectant. Abetta saddles are made of synthetic materials, which makes cleaning a breeze. Quickly clean an Abetta saddle and preserve it for years to come without having to use multiple cleaning products.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Saddle stand or sturdy fence rail
  • Water hose
  • Stiff brush
  • Horse shampoo
  1. Step 1

    Remove all equipment from the saddle, such as the girth, breast-collar and back cinch. Sit the saddle on a saddle stand outside or on a sturdy fence rail, near a water hose.

  2. Step 2

    Rinse the saddle with a water hose until the entire saddle is wet and dripping.

  3. Step 3

    Use horse shampoo and a stiff brush to scrub the saddle. Heavily soiled areas can be scrubbed and rinsed more than once.

  4. Step 4

    Rinse the entire saddle until all of the soap is gone and the rinse water is clear.

  5. Step 5

    Sit the saddle outside to air dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use horse shampoo on the saddle because it is mild and won't irritate your horse if you don't rinse the saddle completely.
