How to Draw a Gummy Bear

Gummy bear candy is an irresistible treat but can also be an artist's muse. The next time you want to sweeten a loved one's day, draw them a gummy bear. They will be able to keep it longer than candy and will be delighted by the effort you put into the project.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a circle in the middle of the page in pencil. Draw two ears, each consisting of a small semi circle, coming off from the main circle at the positions where the numbers 1 and 11 would be on an analog clock.

    • 2

Draw the bear's torso--an oval--directly below the circle. Draw two small circles, or hands, on the right and left edges of the top half the torso.

    • 3

Draw a vertical line that comes off of the bear's left hand, curves out, and curves back in to touch the bear's face. Repeat this step on the bear's right side.

    • 4

Erase the part of the circle that overlaps with the bear's arms. Draw another curved line to complete the other arm.

    • 5

Draw two more small circles, which will be the bear's feet, about an inch below the torso. The corresponding feet and hands should line up. Connect the two feet with a horizontal line that begins at the inner bottom corner of the left room, curves up, and curves back down to the inner bottom corner of the right foot.

    • 6

Draw a vertical line that comes off of the bear's left foot, curves out, and curves back in to touch the torso. Repeat on the right side.

    • 7

Draw a curved line diagonally across each leg, directly below the torso.

    • 8

Draw two small circles in the top half of the face for eyes. Draw a line that begins at the bottom of the left eye, curves down, and curves back up to the bottom of the right eye. Draw a very small circle---the nose---at the apex of this curved line.

    • 9

Draw the bear's smile with a horizontal line that curves down, ever so slightly, below the nose.

    • 10

Select a color for your gummy bear. Color it in, shading certain areas darker than others to replicate the shadows created by light that shines through the bear's jelly body.

Tips & Warnings

  • Personalize the gummy bear before you give it to your sweetheart. Use a pen to write "I Love You" on the bear's tummy. Draw many tiny bears in different colors to use as a part of a scavenger hunt.
